network peripherals

talking about the network periphery may we as IT people who want to learn about the network must know about the periphery of the network as a basis for network control
kinds of network peripherals:

Ethernet card (network card)
To connect computers with network equipment systems. This equipment is often called a network or network adapter enterface

Ethernet Hub
To connect multiple Ethernet segments into one segment. Hub serves as a liaison between computers or network segment. Every computer connected to a hub to transmit the data in turn, can not be together.

Access point
Such a hub for wireless networks. Signals from the access point can be accessed by members of a network of computers that are equipped by the Wifi card.

Switch
Traffic allocate specific data from each network segment to a specific point (destination network). So, do not like hubs, switches can serve the data transport from and to multiple network segments at the same time. Switch more in use than the hub.

Repeater
Generate a reset signal is received before being sent to the destination address in the network. Repeaters can be incorporated in a hub. Repeater hub is equipped with an active hub or switch.

Router
Special network equipment that can determine or select the destination network to forward data packets. Router can only work on a network protocol.

Bridge
Network equipment to connect multiple network segments along the data path.
